Origin & History

Sainik School Nalanda, was  inaugurated in Rajgir on 12 Oct 2003 by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri George Fernandes, is one of the thirty three Sainik Schools started in different parts of the country as a boys’ residential school for providing public school education under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India, New Delhi. In fact,Bihar is the first state to have two Sainik Schools, the other one , Sainik School Gopalganj at Hathwa, was inaugurated on the same day. The school shifted to its permanent location in January 2016. The permanent location is sprawled in an area of 52 acres which was inaugurated by Shri Nitish Kumar, Hon’ble Chief Minister on 20 August 2015. However, after the decision of BoG, from Academic Session 2021-22, girls are also inducted as cadets in the school. The school Bagged Merit Certificates in 2008, 09, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20 and 2022 (Total 10 times). The school is located 4 km away from Pawapuri National Highway, 16 km from Biharsharif and 100 km from state capital, Patna.

AIM

The primary aim of Sainik School is to prepare Cadets academically, physically and mentally for entry into the Defence Services in the Officer Cadre and those who do not make the grade, for responsible positions in other walks of life.

OBJECTIVES

  1. (a) To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the Defence Services.
  2. (b) To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the young boys of today to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow and excel in all  walks of life.
  3. (c) To bring public school education within the reach of common man.
